Researching Different House Styles

 In this blog post I will be explaining the information I have researched upon so far about house styles. While doing this research it has allowed me to understand the reason behind what house style is, and why its utilize in magazine. 

    House style serves as a guide to writers' that outlines the writing and format of the magazine. It covers things such as the preferred word choice, tone, grammar and punctuation issues, and product name formatting. House style is able to provide writing guidelines to maintain consistency across all publications. Magazine companies will usually select a few font types and repeat them throughout the magazine for different things. This allows the audience to know that the magazine is from that company since they present their magazine styles similarly. Having house styles present in magazines, allows magazines to be showcased neatly and organized.

    Throughout my research I realized that the idea of house styles has definitely changed the way I look at magazines. I probably would've never thought of a guideline being used to input different fonts, images, etc. Clearly with house style the editing process is definitely smoother and faster, rather than working from scratch and not knowing what to put in your magazine.
