General Representation in the Media

        Gender representation does indeed play an important role in magazines. Gender representation in magazines mostly depends on what kind of magazine it is. For example, in fashion magazines, there is usually one gender represented, meaning it will either be a women's fashion magazine or a men's fashion magazine. The magazine will represent each gender through the fashion portrayed through the magazine. Most magazines represents one gender but others try to represent both genders as best as possible. In order to figure out what my demographic will be, I will be creating a survey in the future that will help me determine this. 

In the image above taken from Vanity Fair magazine, the cover page is representing one gender. One of the feature stories included in the magazine is all about the model on the cover page. However, throughout the magazine other genders are represented as well. 

With this image taken from GQ Magazine, it is representing men for this specific magazine. The GQ represents both genders however for this exact magazine, they represented the artist Tyler the Creator, and his fashion looks.
