       Everyone lately has been up to date with the newest streetwear fashion. Many people are stuck in their homes around the world, so they have no choice but to online shop.  With fashion, people are allowed to express themselves through their own clothing items. Streetwear fashion has been on the rise ever since quarantine. People have begun to branch out of their normal fashion styles and started to explore other popular fashion styles. Fashion is a way of making a statement about something or an individual in general. Through different parts of the world, there are different kinds of streetwear fashion that exist. Furthermore, here in the U.S. many people dress the same but in the own unique style. Researching the latest fashion trends is a way for an individual to update their wardrobe and style. 

 

A variety of things today have been promoted through different social media apps, especially during quarantine, such as Tik Tok. This social media platform has allowed many people to share their what is called “clothing hauls” from different online fashion boutiques/ stores. These online stores began to gain popularity from it being promoted on social media. The most popular outfit of women’s streetwear fashion basically included baggy jeans, a graphic tee, and some nice sneakers such as any Retro Jordan. With this basic outfit many people believed they have gained a sense of style. A basic style can be pulled off as the sneakers sometimes give extra emphasis on the outfit. However, streetwear fashion can include a variety of different clothing items, this outfit has just been the most popular over the year. 

 

Ja’niah Elliot is 18-year-old high school senior from Miami, FL.  She is a young girl who enjoys shopping for the latest fashion trends but doesn’t like overspending. She was asked her perspective on streetwear fashion “I believe I started to gain a sense of style during quarantine”, says Elliot. She says that during quarantine “she saw that this popular online website called SHEIN was trending, so she decided to purchase some clothing items from there. She fell in love with the prices the website provided as well as the quality of the clothing”. “There wasn’t anyone who influenced me it to starting my streetwear fashion wardrobe” say Elliot. She says it was more of going along with the trend. Overall, she is pleased with how fascinated she is with streetwear fashion now. Knowing how to piece together different clothing item can lead one into making a fashion statement. Many young people who shop today, don’t care to make fashion statements, they are just more pleased with the way others view them and their style.
