Conventions

Within my research, I found that there are different codes and conventions to a magazine, that help it look organized. Utilizing these conventions, will help me successfully organize my magazine, as well as make it look well ordered for my audience. These were the conventions generally used:

- Masthead: This is usually is the magazine title. It is what is most recognizable in the magazine, and is inputted with unique fonts to make it stand out to catch the audiences attention.

- Tagline: Informs the audience what the magazine is about.

- Coverlines: Gives the audience an idea of what is included in the magazine.

- Central Image: This image is usually very large on purpose in order to attract the readers even before they start to open the magazine and read it.

- Cover model: Model is usually a celebrity or a publicly known figure and they usually grasps the readers attention in determining what genre the magazine is based on the model.

- Cover Lines: Allows readers to know what other content is inputted in the magazine

- Barcode: Located in the same position consistently throughout these magazines
